March 24, 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the NJ Supreme Court’s watershed Mount Laurel ruling. To honor this milestone, we hosted a special event with Governor Phil Murphy, Lt. Governor Tahesha Way & civil rights leaders at the historic Jacob’s Chapel in Mount Laurel.

In 2012, Superstorm Sandy ravaged the New Jersey coast and devastated dozens of communities and the lives of thousands of residents. In the months following the storm, our disaster recovery system failed the most impacted communities of color, disproportionately allocating resources to white and wealthier homeowners.
This event featured a discussion on structural racism, poverty, and the policies that dismantle residential segregation with panelists Matt Desmond, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, and Adam Gordon and moderator Rev. Eric Dobson.
